Chapter Twenty-three

Please reread the last paragraph on page 288.  What does this tell you about the way Calpurnia feels about Miss Spitty?  Please provide evidence from the text that supports your point of view.

  1. I believe that Calpurnia is feeling good about Miss Spitty because of the fact on the lastline Calpurnia says "Perhaps I would have to bestow my approval on her".

  2. I think that Calpurnia likes Miss Spitty because she was comparing her to Miss Goodarce and Calpurnia thought that Miss Spitty was much better than Miss Goodacre just because of her expression and how she looked.

  3. I think that Callie thought that Miss Spitty seemed more true to everyone than Miss Goodcare because she did not seem to be as suspicious.

  4. I think that she think that Fern Spitty is true and nice and treats Harry well. If she was not good to Harry she would do something since she is Harry's pet and doesn't want to see him getting hurt. And like Angus said, "she approves."

  5. I agree with Tyler because for the same reasons; Mrs.Goodarce seemed more suspicious than Mrs.Spitty.
