Chapter Eighteen
Why do you suppose, on page 224, Viola called Callie, "Miz Callie," when she had never called her "Miss" before?
I believe that Viola called Callie "Miz" because cooking was believed to be the first step to becoming a woman, and since she is starting cooking, it would be appropriate to start calling her "Miz"
I think that Viola called Callie 'miz' was because she was leaning to cook like a lady and thought that she should be treated like a lady. In this case by calling her 'miz Callie.'

ReplyDeleteI think this because of the fact that she has started cooking and sewing regulary .
ReplyDeleteI think it is because Calpurna is starting to learn how to be a women, and Viola is trying to get her used to it when other people call her "Miss".
ReplyDeleteI think that Viola called Calpurnia "miz" because Calpurnia was beging to be a woman and Viola thought that she needed to be treated like one.
