Chapter Thirteen
Page 187: "I'd heard him called 'the Perfessor' by various semiliterate wags about town in tones that might have been termed faintly derisive." How do you interpret this sentence?
I think it means that some people think that Calpurnia's grandfather is a joke an that he is weird, Calpurnia said that her grandfather doesn't care about this but she does because she thinks that it isn't nice for other people to do that.
I think that it means that people do not respect or like hin for who he is so theybthink that he is weird and that he doesn't fit in with anybody else.
I think that this means that the towns people disrespect him and do not care for him.
