Page 187: "I'd heard him called 'the Perfessor' by various semiliterate wags about town in tones that might have been termed faintly derisive."

How do you interpret this sentence?

  2. I agree with Angus because I think that it means to disrespect people by calling them names or making fun of them.

  3. I think it means that some people think that Calpurnia's grandfather is a joke an that he is weird, Calpurnia said that her grandfather doesn't care about this but she does because she thinks that it isn't nice for other people to do that.

  5. I think that it means that people do not respect or like hin for who he is so theybthink that he is weird and that he doesn't fit in with anybody else.
